Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network partners with MediGO to support safe, timely organ transportation
BALTIMORE (November 15, 2022): MediGO, a digital healthcare supply chain technology company, announces a new partnership that will expand its presence in the northeastern portion of the United States. Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN), the organ procurement organization (OPO) serving New York’s Finger Lakes, Central and Upstate regions, has signed on to use MediGO’s OPO Delivery Management software to ensure that organs reach their transplant recipients in an efficient manner.
After surgical recovery at the hospital that cared for the organ donor, lifesaving organs reach waiting recipients by way of a complex chain of custody journey that includes ground and/or air transportation. By incorporating OPO Delivery Management into the transportation process, FLDRN will have access to real-time tracking and predictive ETAs to share with the receiving transplant center.
The MediGO platform, accessible by mobile, tablet and desktop, offers FLDRN easy-to-use tools, such as a secure messaging feature to communicate critical information with its partners in a timely manner while eliminating the need for time-consuming phone calls and partially populated group texts.
“MediGO’s OPO Delivery Management software provides our OPO with real-time tracking of organs and helps reduce phone calls by allowing transplant centers to receive notifications that alert them about changes to ETAs,” said Bilal Mahmood, director of clinical services at FLDRN.
MediGO’s suite of products is designed specifically for the donation and transplantation industry, a complex network of health care teams working together to help end the wait for more than 100,000 people across the United States. As it digitally transforms the U.S. organ donation and transplant system, MediGO’s technology helps to improve fairness and equity, reduce nonuse of donated and organs, and save more lives.
“We’re excited to partner with Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network to support safe and timely organ transportation in the Northeast,” said Dr. Joseph Scalea, co-founder and chief medical officer at MediGO. “Our vision has been to revolutionize the organ transplant process by tracking every piece of data along an organ’s lifesaving journey. We’ve worked closely with OPOs to design a solution that saves time, money and improves the quality of the gift of life.”
